The product manager role is closest to the project manager role, so explore opportunities to play this role and build the corresponding skillset.

It satisfies project experience requirements for the PMI-ACP® or PgMP®, is accredited against ISO 9001 and ISO/ANSI 17024, and establishes your credibility as a seasoned project professional - making it easier to be accepted by the project management community, especially when working with global clients.
Changing industries is a risky decision. That said, the certification will aid an easier transition, provided the new industry is mature and follows established project management processes.
AI is and will continue to dominate project management. Project and program managers can thrive by leveraging AI outcomes together with leadership skills - adapting to change, emotional intelligence, negotiation, communication, strategic thinking and business acumen.

Start with PMI Project Management Ready™ - an entry-level course covering foundational project management knowledge, basic business analytics and agile methodologies, with no education or experience prerequisites. It builds fluency in the language of business delivery. Follow it up with entry-level project roles and grow your expertise from there.
- Focus on human connections - know your stakeholders.
- Understand stakeholder needs and organisational objectives/strategies.
- Be on video calls as much as possible.
- Connect 1:1 with key stakeholders to resolve conflicts or align on priorities.
- Plan regular check-ins with your team members.

- Even though programs can be managed without deep technical knowledge, having a high-level understanding of the functional/technical side helps you ask the right questions and manage programs more effectively.
